Questions.....

To answer some questions:

My name is not Missy but it really should be. Not a big fan of the seven letters my family put together to make up my name. Every girl on my mom's side has the same name. Family reunions suck. I am twenty years old and a sophmore at the money sucking institute known only as college. Yes, I do have a job but, because of my school scheduale (it runs all day. No, I'm not kidding. Yes, it sucks) I am limited to wroking on the weekends. This currently has my income limited to exactly 73.88$ a week. Hopefully it will be going up because I'm expected to take on another case. Oh, yeah, I work in a nursing home as an adult sitter. It rules. Way better than fast food...I should know.

On a side note, people, please be nicer to the people who make your food. Their jobs suck worst than whatever bad day you may be having and half the time they are standing for six hours on end and dealing with ungrateful little pricks trying to get a free meal. They do not mess up your food on purpose, unless, of course, you're an a**. Then yeah, they totally did that on purpose. You deserved it though. Shouldn't have been an a**. Just smile next time, ask them to give a tip to the cook, tell them what a great job they are doing. It goes along way because, at the end of the day when they are soaking their feet and talking on their phones, they are talking about you. If you were a prick. They'll remember. And they'll make sure you get an extra moist hamburger.

Okay, question for ya'll:
What is the twenty dollar challenge? I was poking my happy-little-non-existant-social-life around the site and saw something about it. Sadly, not enough info. Do I save twenty dollars from every check? Do I not buy anything above twenty dollars? I'm totally confused. If anyone can help me I'll totally give you a shout out and try to help you out too. I mean, if you wanna know anything about psychology, I'm your psych major. I also know some pretty entertaining random facts. Always fun at parties.

everyone does it differently. the way i did it (i am not currently though) was that you start with an initial amount ($20) per week and through the week/month/year you find ways to earn more money other than your regular job (say selling things on ebay, finding change on the ground, getting a second job etc) and some people also use it to track money they SAVE, (for instance using a coupon, getting cash back from a special promotion purchase, buying things on special, using less electricity than budgetted etc). I think most people put this money away in a savings account. So if you went shopping and saved 20c on a discounted carton of milk and bought some razors for $4.50 with a cash back promotion, then found $1 in the gutter, you would put $5.70 into your challenge that week and add it onto the total amount. Smile

you could apply this money to your debt instead if you wanted to Smile

My understanding of the $20 challenge was to find new/creative ways to bring in $20 more. I'm going for $20 additional per month, and selling items on Craig's list, which is a new thing for me. Right now the money is sitting around. . . eventually I'll figure out what to do with it.

The $20 Challenge initially started as this: You too $20 and used it to buy/make items that you would then sell to make a profit on. For example, spend $20 at a yard sale then put what you got online at Ebay and make a profit. Or spend $20 on craft supplies, make something and sell it for profit.

Now, it has morphed into different ways to find "extra" money, such as a 2nd job, savings at a store like whitestripe said, money found on the sidewalk, or even money from each paycheck you designate to your savings. It has grown to vary to mean different things to different people. For example, Ima pays herself every time the stock markey goes up or when her fave basebaseball the, The Braves, win. I put all my online sales profits in there. Some people put in an equal amount to what they save using coupons.

Hope this explains it better!! *smile*

I'm glad you asked. I wasn't ever really clear on the meaning either, but never thought to ask. Duh! I guess by reading the answers above, though, I was right. Koppur's example of how it started and what it became is exactly what I thought it might be. Un-duh!
